About King of the Hill
King of the Hill is an animated television show airing on Fox, that is the second longest animated show still in broadcast, coming second only to Fox's The Simpsons. The animated comedy was created by Mike Judge, creator of cult classics Office Space and Beavis & Butthead.
The show revolves around the Hills , a blue collar middle-class family, and their friends - who live in Arlen, a fictional city located in Texas, USA. The main characters include:
- Hank 'Rutherford' Hill - an uptight "propane and propane accessories" salesman and assistant manager of Strickland Propane, who despite being an average American suffers from diminished glutes syndrome and a narrow urethra, which renders him infertile.
- Margaret 'Peggy' Hill - Hank's wife and a barely proficient substitute Spanish teacher, who is best characterized as having a high ego of herself, despite her gullibility and naivity to fall for scams or unnecessarily complicate situations. Peggy is a boggle champion, and has both mother and feet issues, arising from her unusually large 16 1/2 feet.
- Robert Jeffrey 'Bobby' Hill - Hank and Peggy's overweight 13 year old son, who desperately seeks his fathers acceptance and wishes to be a prop comic, and shows a strong interest in fine arts, despite his fathers disapproval. Bobby is often portrayed as aloof, lazy, an underachiever and somewhat ignorant to historic, geographic and world issues.
- Luanne Platter (Kleinschmidt) - The flakey and somewhat vapid neiece of Peggy Hill, who despite a stint at college and a beauty academy, ended up dropping out and more recently marrying a highschool dropout by the name of Lucky, after she was impregnated by him. She comes from poor means, having lived in a trailer park where she left from to live with the Hills after her mother stabbed her father with a Fork. Luanne is promiscuous at first, but in later seasons becomes a born again Christian.
- Dale 'Alvin' Gribble - Hank's paranoid and conspiracy theorist childhod friend, who limelights as a pest exterminator, bounty hunter and holds the position of reigning gun club president. He is something of a coward, despite his ego and claims of bravery. He often uses the persona and the identity of "Rusty Shackleford", a schoolyard peer who he believes to have died in the 3rd grade. Dale's wife, Nancy, to whom he is extremely loyal, has cheated on him with Native American masseuse John Redcorn, who is the real biological father of their son Joseph unknown to Dale, who is oblivious of his wife's affair, despite the entire neighborhood's knowledge of it.
- William 'Bill' Fontaine De la Tour Dauterive - Hank's good friend and a New Orleans native, who is now a shell of his former self. Overweight, clinically depressed and unhygenic, Bill Dauterive has fallen apart since his messy divorce from his wife, Lenore, and requires help from Hank and Dale to prevent his ritual suicide attempts around Holidays. He is an army barber for the US Army, and is infatuated with Hank's wife, Peggy Hill, much to everyones disgust.
- Boomhauer - the amorous, good looking lady's man, and friend of Hank, Dale and Bill, who is best known for his rapid pace of speech that makes understanding his dialogue difficult, if not impossible at times. He is a flagrant womanizer brining home a new 'girlfriend' each day, and is respected and held in high esteems amongst all of Hank's friends.
The show has lasted 13 seasons, admist rumours that the show may be cancelled by the end of 2008 due to declining ratings and Fox's desire to bring in new shows to their Sunday Animation Domination lineup, including Family Guy spinoff The Cleveland Show and an as of yet untitled Mike Judge project.
